NYCC 2019: An MMA Fighter Struggles with His Sexuality in KILL A MAN

An all-new and original graphic novel Kill a Man is coming to AfterShock Comics, from writers Steve Orlando and Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Alec Morgan.

The upcoming book will combine James Belyi’s mixed martial arts abilities and highlight his struggles with identifying with his sexuality. He is trying to live up to his father’s reputation as a supreme fighter, though as a member of the queer community, would surely not be accepted by his father. Though his secret will not remain in the shadows forever.

“On the cusp of James’s title shot, he’s catfished and outed by his opponent, losing his entire support system, labeled a traitor by his family,” said Orlando. “With no choice but to live on, James turns to the only man left in the world that will still train him on his quest to take back his title shot — the man that killed his father.”
