Creators Stephanie Phillips and Dean Kotz are dipping deep into the archives to get the hairs standing on your neck with their upcoming Dark Horse series about a 1944 serial killer in France in, The Butcher of Paris.

This true story, in 1944, during World War II, Swastikas waved on flags over Paris, France, while one of the most-notorious serial killers in history, Marcel Petiot, roamed the streets in making it his own personal hunting ground, seeking out those desperate to flee the war-tattered city. A gruesome discovery by police leads to a search for the murderer in what becomes a rat race against the Nazi regime, who are also looking for him as well.

The five-issue miniseries will delve into the historical, true-crime thriller about a killer, wanted by both the Nazis and Allied Forces, who was nicknamed, The Butcher of Paris.

Petiot was executed in 1946 for his numerous horrific crimes in the slaying of a known 200 victims. It was alleged he was luring those of Jewish faith to a promised safe passage, where he would rob and kill them.

The Butcher of Paris #1 (of 5) goes on sale on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019.
