A new limited series will tab Spider-Man with famed filmmaker J.J. Abrams, his son, Henry, and Marvel creators Sara Pichelli and Olivier Coipel, due out in the fall, quaintly-titled, Spider-Man.

The five-issue series will introduce a new villain to the Spider-Verse, throw the Marvel Universe into a flux, all while both Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson will be forced to contend against all the pure chaos.

Spider-Man is one of those Superheroes where, the more you read about him, for me at least, the less I understand him,” said (Henry) Abrams. “He’s so anti-everything that you’d expect from a hero. I think Stan Lee said something about putting the ‘human in superhuman’. That is what we’re trying to do.”

The series will mark J.J.’s first-ever Marvel project, while son, Henry, is making his comic book editing debut.

Daddy Abrams is busy. Comic book aside, he has Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker dropping in December, and also has a laundry list of upcoming projects, including, Mission: Impossible 7 and sequels for both Star Trek and Cloverfield.

Spider-Man #1 (of 5), from the Abrams men, will swing its way onto bookshelves in September.
