Chris Pine in Talks for Lead Character in Paramount’s Reboot of THE SAINT
April 22, 2020The Paramount Pictures-controlled reboot of The Saint has landed Chris Pine as its star, along with director Dexter Fletcher and scribe Seth Grahame-Smith.
The film will presumably be a reimagining of the 1997 film, The Saint, which starred Val Kilmer as the titular character, Simon Templar, a thief for hire. The film(s) are based on the series of novels from the 1920s by Leslie Charteris.
Pine reprised his role as Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman 1984, which was recently included in Warner Bros.‘s reshuffling of release dates because of the COVID-19 epidemic. He has numerous upcoming projects for 2020-22, including Violence of Action, Newsflash, All the Old Knives and he will once again serve as Captain James T. Kirk in yet another, still-untitled Star Trek sequel.
Fletcher is coming off of two stellar breakouts in having produced the Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) and directing Rocketman (2019), about Elton John’s rise to stardom.
Grahame-Smith is currently penning the script to Beetlejuice 2. He’s best-known for having written The Lego Batman Movie (2017).
No news yet on when production starts, but if the film proves successful, there are plenty of Charteris novels in the series to churn out a franchise!
