Marvel Announces Three BLACK WIDOW Comics, Ahead of Film Release
January 16, 2020Not only does Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, have her own film dropping this year, one which will be preceded by the usual MCU prelude limited two-issue series, but now has three-different comics coming in April as well, which will all further expand her universe and backstory.
This spring will feel the widow’s bite with the upcoming comics, Black Widow: Widow’s Sting, from Ralph Macchio (not the one you’re thinking of) and Simone Buonfantino, Taskmaster, via Jed Mackay and Alessandro Vitti and, per the creative tandem of Devin Grayson and Michele Bandini, Widowmakers: Red Guardian and Yelena Belova.
In Widow’s Sting, a one-shot tale from Romanoff’s deep-cover days, Silvermane is stirring things up in the criminal underworld. The Maggia boss will be opposed by S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, codename Black Widow, who is sent in to investigate. After the organization disappears, a far deadlier plan will be realized.
The Taskmaster series will spotlight the villain as he has (allegedly) murdered Maria Hill, thus putting a target on his back. All the greatest of the world’s spies are now hunting him down, specifically three of them, while the villain attempts to clear his name, across a globe-spanning adventure.
Lastly, in Widowmakers, fans will be better-introduced to the characters of Alexi Shostakov (Red Guardian), the ex-husband of Romanoff and Yelena Belova, a ‘Red Room’ recruit who once nearly killed her. The series will pickup with Belova digging further into her roots and background, while Shostakov is hot on her trail. The two will ultimately come together in an epic showdown!
Black Widow: Widow’s Sting #1, Widowmakers: Red Guardian and Yelena Belova #1 and Taskmaster #1 are all due on shelves in April of 2020.
