Many of us know Kayvan Novak as the lovable vampire, Nandor the Relentless, from the hit television series, “What We Do in the Shadows,” which recently ended with season 6. And he has taken on the character with sheer talent and grace. He’s embraced it. He loves the show, cherishes his friendship with fellow actor on the show, Harvey Guillen, who plays Guillermo, and engages well with fans.

When we finally caught up with him, we told him we wanted to see a dynamic duo series of Nandor and Guillermo but also asked him what’s next. He sat silent for a second and finally responded, “You know, I don’t know.” Hollywood needs to pay better attention to its talent. Novak is a star and has earned the title. Whatever is next, and hopefully it’s something great, we know he will be equally as great.

A Quick History: Kayvan Novak

Kayvan Novak is a British actor, comedian, and voice artist best known for his versatility in comedy and character work. Born on November 23, 1978, in London, England, to Iranian parents, Novak first gained prominence as the co-creator and star of the BAFTA-winning prank show Fonejacker (2006–2008), where he showcased his talent for vocal mimicry and improvisation by portraying a variety of eccentric characters through prank phone calls.

He expanded his comedic reach with Facejacker (2010–2012), taking his characters into real-world interactions with the public while disguised in elaborate prosthetics. Beyond his sketch and prank work, Novak has demonstrated his acting range in television and film, notably portraying the vampire Nandor the Relentless in the critically acclaimed mockumentary series What We Do in the Shadows (2019–present). His role as the well-meaning but clueless ancient warrior-turned-immortal bloodsucker has made him a fan favorite.

Novak has also appeared in films such as Four Lions (2010), Cuban Fury (2014), and Men in Black: International (2019). As a skilled voice actor, he has lent his talents to numerous animated projects, including Thunderbirds Are Go and Counterfeit Cat.

With his sharp comedic instincts, diverse vocal abilities, and chameleon-like acting skills, Kayvan Novak continues to be a distinctive and beloved figure in British and international comedy.
