Debuting last year, Nights is a supernatural coming-of-age tale set in an alternate 2003 where humans coexist with supernatural beings and the U.S. consists of just 31 states. The comic launched with a 12-issue arc titled Season One.
Titmouse creative director Alexei Bochenek described Nights as “a generational experience in the making.”
“Reading it takes me back to staying up late watching FLCL on Toonami—being blown away not just by its energy, but by how deeply seen it made me feel. It was a mirror to my whole self—flaws, dreams, fears, all of it. If you know, you know,” said Bochenek. “I want to recapture that magic for fans who have been chasing that feeling ever since, while also introducing a whole new audience to something they can see themselves in and champion.”
Kennedy, who always envisioned Nights as an animated series rather than live-action, praised the Titmouse team for immediately grasping the heart of the story. “From our very first conversations, Alexei and his team understood the soul of our strange little world. Their passion and collaborative spirit make me confident that both longtime fans and newcomers are in for something special.”
The animation will reflect the comic’s ’90s and early 2000s aesthetic, blending anime influences with an indie edge. Titmouse, known for projects like The Venture Bros., Star Trek: Lower Decks, Frog and Toad, and Beavis and Butt-Head, is no stranger to bold and innovative storytelling.
Formisano, thrilled to be working with the studio, added, “Some of my favorite shows have come from Titmouse. It’s an honor to collaborate with a team that loves this story as much as Wyatt and I do. I can’t wait for fans to see what we create together.”
