Dwayne Johnson and Scarlett Johansson Both Top Forbes’ 2019 Highest Paid Actors Lists
August 29, 2019 Off By Michael StagnoThe verdict is in and Scarlett Johansson, for the second-consecutive year, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, are the two highest paid actors as of the first of June, 2018-19.
Johansson, who turned in an astounding $56 million, led the charge in the 2019 Female Actor List. Her lucrative pay comes primarily via her role in the MCU as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, of which she is currently filming her standalone film as the character. She also has an upcoming film set to debut on Netflix, Marriage Story, and is voicing Ash in Sing 2, an animated feature film.
Joining Johansson in the Top 10 included (in order): Sofïa Vergara ($44.1 million), Reese Witherspoon ($35 million), Nicole Kidman ($34 million), Jennifer Aniston ($28 million), Kaley Cuoco ($25 million), Elisabeth Moss ($24 million), Margot Robbie ($23.5 million), Charlize Theron ($23 million) and Ellen Pompeo ($22 million).
Topping the 2019 Male Actor List was Johnson, who earned a staggering $89.4 million. He is fresh off the success of the spinoff, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and is also set to earn $23.5 million for the upcoming sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level. He has his own clothing line with Under Armour and also garners $700,000 for each episode of HBO’s Ballers. He has a laundry list of upcoming projects as well, including DCEU’s Black Adam, the Dynamite Entertainment adaptation of Doc Savage and the reboot of Big Trouble in Little China.
Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 (in order) was: Chris Hemsworth ($76.4 million), Robert Downey Jr ($66 million), Akshay Kumar ($65 million), Jackie Chan ($58 million), Bradley Cooper and Adam Sandler ($57 million), Chris Evans ($43.5 million), Paul Rudd ($41 million), Will Smith ($35 million).
Most noticeable about the two lists is the monetary gaps in pay between the two sexes. Hemsworth doubled up the salaries of 3-10 in the women’s list, while Smith made $13 million more than Pompeo. In fact, seven of the top-earning males made more than Johansson, the highest paid female actor!
