J.J. Abrams’ BAD ROBOT Inks Sizable Film/TV Deal with WarnerMedia
September 12, 2019Filmmaker J.J. Abrams and wife, Co-CEO Katie McGrath, will now house all Bad Robot divisional productions, for the first time, under the same roof, having signed a mega partnership with WarnerMedia.
The couple signed a five-year deal for an estimated $250 million and will run through 2024. The exclusive deal will house all Bad Robot productions, whether film, television or gaming projects, within WarnerMedia.
As part of the deal, Abrams will create original films for WarnerMedia as well, but it remains to be determined whether he will also be allowed to accept other directorial gigs outside of the partnership.
Abrams has a laundry list of projects he is currently working on, including, but not limited to, putting the final touches on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and is also preparing to take on the HBO drama, Lovecraft Country, in conjunction with Jordan Peele, as well as untitled Cloverfield and Star Trek films.
