After years of negotiations, Netflix has (finally) acquired the rights to the popular 80s arcade game, Dragon’s Lair, with Ryan Reynolds attached, and will serve as a live-action adaptation feature.

The iconic 1980s arcade game centers on Dirk the Daring, who is tasked with rescuing Princess Daphne from a wizard (Mordroc) and an evil dragon, Singe. The game debuted across arcades in 1983, revolutionized the industry and propelled to being the most-popular game in America.

Reynolds had a big 2019 and is gearing up for an even bigger 2020. He recently wrapped on Free Guy and has two upcoming sequels, Deadpool 3 and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, as well as a role in Clue and A Christmas Carol.

The Don Ruth Presents Dragon’s Lair Trilogy, which includes all three arcade classics, Dragon’s Lair, Dragon’s Lair 2: Time Warp and Dragon’s Lair 3: Space Ace, is currently available on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
