A fan-favorite series from Vault Comics, Vagrant Queen, in conjunction with Blue Ice Pictures, will soon come to life as a live-action series on SyFy.

The graphic novel, from creators Magdalene Visaggio and Jason Smith, tells the story of Elida, a former child queen that was forced from her home and to wander the galaxy all while she is hunted by the revolutionaries she is trying to evade. Before Commander Lazaro finds the now scavenging outlaw, she is tasked with returning home to find her long-lost mother.

The lead role of Elida will be portrayed by Adriyan Rae, while the series foe-turned-friend, Isaac, will be played by Tim Rozon. Paul du Toit will take on the role of series antagonist, Lazaro. The television series will jump into pre-production in July and will see both Lance Samuels and Daniel Iron serve as executive producers along with the creators and publisher.

“The one thing I always wanted Vagrant Queen to be was a space opera that didn’t take itself too seriously,” said Visaggio. “Let other people have prophecies and ‘chosen ones’ and restoring the ancient throne; I wanted to do a book about someone running from the past instead of eager to uncover it, where the mystery wasn’t in some mystical power or forgotten legend, but in a young woman struggling to make her own way in the universe.”

No news yet on the production schedule, release date or supporting cast, but Visaggio and Smith are both currently in the lab, working on the comic series continuation. Stay tuned on both fronts!
