Sundance: Cold War Thriller, IRONBARK, Purchased by Lionsgate
January 27, 2020 Off By Michael StagnoThe upcoming Cold War spy thriller, Ironbark, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, has landed at Lionsgate and is presumably being sold at the Sundance Film Festival in the mid-seven-figure range, while being helmed by Roadside Attractions.
The Dominic Cooke-directed drama takes place during the Cold War, centering on the Cuban Missile Crisis. It follows Greville Wynne (Cumberbatch), a British businessman who partners with a Soviet officer, in an attempt to prevent a nuclear confrontation, as the two try to put an end to one of the greatest conflicts in history.
The film also stars: Merab Ninidze, Jessie Buckley, Rachel Brosnahan, Angus Wright and Joseph Balderrama.
