Once again, the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders are stepping into the spotlight, this time on Netflix.

The streaming giant announces its newest unscripted series, “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” set to debut in the summer. With executive producers Greg Whiteley (known for “Cheer” and “Last Chance U”) at the helm, the show marks a departure from the former long-running series “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team,” which aired for 16 seasons on CMT.

While the previous show often followed a competition format, “America’s Sweethearts” offers a more polished, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of the cheerleaders across seven episodes. Netflix describes the series as an exploration of the personal stories behind the iconic uniforms, promising an intimate look at the 2023-24 season.

Whiteley expresses gratitude for the unprecedented access granted by the Dallas Cowboys organization, allowing the production team to create an authentic portrayal of this cherished American institution. Charlotte Jones, executive VP and chief brand officer for the Cowboys, and president of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, praises the collaborative effort, acknowledging Netflix’s global platform as the ideal stage to showcase the series.

Executive produced by Whiteley, Adam Leibowitz, Andrew Fried, Dane Lillegard, Ross M. Dinerstein, and Rebecca Evans, “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” offers an inside perspective on the journey, emotions, challenges, and joys experienced by these beloved performers.
