The BAT-SIGNAL Projected All Over the World in Honor of BATMAN DAY
September 22, 2019 Off By Michael StagnoThe Bat-Signal first appeared in Detective Comics #60 (1941), but in 2019, to celebrate 80 years of Batman, the logo was set aglow across 13 locations around the world.
The participating worldwide locations that lit up the sky with the iconic bat logo for Batman Day included:
- Melbourne at Fed Square
- Tokyo at MAGNET by SHIBUYA109 at Shibuya Scramble Crossing
- Johannesburg at The Leonardo Building
- Berlin at Potzdamer Platz 11
- Rome at Roma Termini
- Paris at Galeries Lafayette
- Barcelona at Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya
- London at the Senate House
- São Paulo at Itaúsa – LMB
- Montreal at Complex Dupuis
- New York at the Domino Sugar Refinery
- Mexico City at Torre Reforma
- Los Angeles at the Warner Bros. Studio Lot
The celebration, which saw fans gather across six different continents, allowed people to participate in numerous activities, pop-up creators signings and picture opportunities, all in recognition of the Dark Knight.
The Caped Crusader made his first appearance in Detective Comics #27 (1939) and has since become the most-recognizable masked man in comics.
