Artist Lauren Keely is making her debut as a writer, along with fellow artist and writer, Jonathan Luna, on a new ongoing science fiction thriller at Image Comics, 20XX, this holiday season.

The Alaska-based series will imagine a not-so-distant future that is divided by fear. The population is comprised of ‘Norms’ and ‘Syms’, who are a small percentage of remaining people with telekinetic abilities. The division of the two people breeds gangs and clans, causing even more distance between them. Mer and Nuon, the main characters, experience, firsthand, the violence, complexities and social landscapes among the rivalries.

“I’m very excited about 20XX, as it combines some elements I’ve wanted to use in a story for a very long time: gangs mixed with romance, drama and supernatural abilities, inspired by cyberpunk,” said Luna. “Lauren and I have spent over a year developing this series. It’s evolved quite a bit over that time, having gone through multiple iterations. We ultimately took what we loved from those iterations and created something we hope everyone will enjoy. Everyone over 18, that is.”

20XX #1 will be available in comic shops on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019.
