From a spy to an Avenger, the titular fan-favorite character, Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, is getting a miniseries, which will lead fans down the road to her solo Marvel Cinematic Universe installment in 2020.

The first of a two-part prelude series, from creators Peter David and Carlos Villa, will follow Romanoff in offering fans a glimpse of her origin story as threads of her past, connect to who she is in the future.

First announced at San Diego Comic Con this year, the series premise will remain under wraps as the film is currently shooting. The two-parter will continue Marvel‘s ongoing prelude tie-in collection, which bridge stories from the comic pages to the films on the big screen.

Black Widow: Prelude #1 (of 2) goes on sale in January of 2020, while her standalone MCU film, Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson, will come to theaters on May 1.
