A recent announcement from New York Comic Con will bring Star, a new addition to the Marvel Universe, straight from the currently-running Captain Marvel series and into her own adventure!

That’s right, writer Kelly Thompson and artist and co-creator of the character, artist Carmen Carnero, will adapt a standalone story for the breakout ‘Star‘. See what we did there? We’ll see ourselves out.

The story will follow an ambitious reporter, Ripley Ryan, who was one of the victims caught up in Nuclear Man‘s apocalyptic plans, but later becomes the superhero, Star. She was Dr. Minerva‘s attempt at a Kree-human super soldier, but her heroics made her adored by all. Her desperation for the power and strength to control her own destiny, she attempted to kill Captain Marvel, but failed, leaving her defeated and powerless. However, something strange happened in her time of despair and she became more powerful than ever. No one in the MU is prepared for what that means.

All our questions will be answered, ahead of her miniseries launch, after what will transpire in the pages of Captain Marvel #11.

“With some really exceptional standouts, like the creation of Miles Morales and Kamala Khan, it’s pretty hard to get traction on a new character in modern comics, so the excitement surrounding Star has been really fun to watch,” said Thompson. “And there’s still a big surprise coming in Captain Marvel #11 and, it’s the kind of surprise that, sort of, demands a miniseries like this to explore the mysteries surrounding her and her importance and potential in the larger Marvel Universe.”

Keep an eye out for an exact release date, but Star, as of right now, is expected to drop at some point in early 2020.
