The creative team of co-writers Zac Thompson and Lonnie Nadler, along with artist John McCrea, are set to introduce Yondu in a series which will dissect the character’s psyche.

The five-issue limited series will center on Ravager and scoundrel, Yondu, who is looking to land his biggest payday, ever, but turns out it’s a dangerous new weapon. When the artifact turns out to be deadlier than he could have imagined, he finds himself targeted by a mysterious mercenary as he starts to see the reward may not outweigh the risk. When an unexpected visitor from his future turns up, he begins to question everything.

“The book is about an outcast who sees the Marvel Universe as his for the taking — the only thing is he’s a scumbag, a cheat and a criminal, so livin’ ain’t easy for him,” said Thompson. “We’re giving readers a unique insight into his perspective unlike they’ve ever seen. We see the crusty inner-life of Yondu Udonta and hear his gross inner-thoughts for the first time and, surprise, it’s not a pretty sight.”

Yondu #1 (of 5) is set to hit bookshelves on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019.
