Politics Turns to Punches in Upcoming Image Comics Series, ON THE STUMP

November 27, 2019 Off By Michael Stagno

A new ‘hyper-violent and hyper-stylized’ ongoing series is coming to Image Comics, via creators Chuck Brown and Prenzy called, On the Stump.

The series is set in a universe in which history is diverged by the 1868 presidential debate, which turned violent, resulting in elections today, which are decided by publicized hand-to-hand combat in arenas called, ‘Stumps’. The violence, however, isn’t secluded to the ring, as powerful people can still get away with violence and murder. The story follows Senator Jack Hammer and Anna Bell Lister, an FBI agent, who both team up with aspirations to tear it all down.

“This the rawest story I’ve ever written,” said Brown. “It literally doesn’t hold any punches. Having Prenzy and Clayton bring it to life has been a dream come true.”

“This series has everything I love drawing and the fact that I could also color it helped me make it even more peculiar,” Prenzy said. “Brown created a great story and Cowles was able to give the pages their rightful value. I can say this work will impress the readers … like a punch in the face!”

Each issue in the first story arc will also feature a connecting variant by artist Sanford Greene!

On the Stump #1 goes on sale on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020.
