Second Sight Studios to Publish Rich Davis’ CULT OF DRACULA Series
May 28, 2020 Off By Michael StagnoA new take on the classic phenomenon of Dracula is en route at up-and-coming publisher, Second Sight Studios, per the creative team of writer Rich Davis, artist Henry Martinez and colorist Trevor Richardson in, Cult of Dracula.
The upcoming limited series is a reimagining on the classic story of Dracula, placing the titular character within the Manson family cult, one which dedicates itself to an ancient blood goddess. The story centers on special agent Malcolm Bram, named in honor of Bram Stoker, who is investigating the ‘Cult of Dracula Mass Suicides’. The series, of course, also features the famed Abraham Van Helsing, who in this universe, is a priest-turned-college professor. He enlists grad students Mina Murray and Jonathan Harker, on his documentary film crew, as they follow the cult’s leader, Robert Renfield. As the stories go, both Bram and Van Helsing will find that the cult is actually much older and even more darker than they could have imagined.
“As I was researching, I kept coming across this one common thread. La Llorona, Babaroga, Lamashtu, Lamia, Lilith … Every culture has a story about a dark woman who steals children to devour their blood,” said Davis. “That was Lucy in Stoker’s Dracula. I wanted to explore how those might all come together.”
The limited series will stretch over five issues and includes alternate covers from Sanford Greene, Gyula Nemeth, Carla Cohen and, Georges Jeanty, whose variant is featured below.
Cult of Dracula #1 (of 5) is available to preorder now, via Corner-Box.
