The forthcoming Scout Comics series will pick up after Orson Welles releases his legendary radio broadcast, War of the Worlds, a presumed hoax, which ends up being not a prank, but that of actual events. Following his first encounter with aliens, he joins an organization which defends Earth from intergalactic threats, living a double life as a filmmaker and alien hunter. Upon his death, he leaves his lifelong friend, Paula, a clue as to the mysteries of his life. She soon finds herself over her head in trying to solve the clues, pinning her against secret government organizations and powerful alien technology.
“I’m a devoted cinephile and a long-time fan of Orson Welles. It’s a dream-come-true to be able to tell a story starring Welles. I’m thrilled by the opportunity to work with Scout Comics,” said Lawson. “Metalshark Bro and Canopus are comic titles that have inspired me with their inventiveness and ability to use the comics medium to tell imaginative, original stories.”
Orson Welles: Warrior of the Worlds #1 is expected to drop in mid- to late-2020.
