The Montreal Subway System has a Dragon Issue in New Series, CODE 45
June 19, 2020An upcoming Scout Comics limited series pins a subway driver against an ancient mythical creature, Code 45, from creators, Benjamin Hunting and Joe Ng.
The series centers on a night shift subway driver, Vanessa. While her coworkers are all scared to work that shift, they have found ways to cope, by way of self-medication. However, the hallucinations are also brought, leading to the impossibility to dictate as to what is real or fantasy. For Vanessa, she has started to slowly drift into this world, which also includes frequenting underground raves with her roommate, who is a DJ. The monsters, whether real, does not take away from the constant ‘Code 45’ alert, signaling the possibility of such encounters.
“Using fantasy as a bridge to discussing not just the questions of subjective reality and how we perceive the world around us, but also to broach the topics of depression and mental illness, and how that impacts both individuals and society, is something very personal to me,” stated Hunting.
Code 45 #1 (of 5) is currently scheduled to debut in 2021.
