Popcorn Frights Film Festival Announces Full Slate

The fifth annual Popcorn Frights Film Festival is shaping up to be one of the best yet, with 24 films scheduled over nine days of horror!

It has now been revealed the films that we can expect in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., including kicking things off with the world premiere of Haunt, from the creative duo behind A Quiet Place, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, both of whom will be in attendance. In fact, taking into consideration all of the short films, the festival will feature 73 film premieres, including 10 world premieres, spanning over 16-different countries. The event will close with the East Coast premiere of Bit, starring Supergirl‘s Nicole Maines. With two waves of film announcements, this is not a year to miss this event!

FIRST WAVE

Notable films announced include, The Sonata, starring recently-deceased sci-fi legend, Rutger Hauer, Paradise Hills, starring Emma Roberts, Eiza González, Milla Jovovich and Awkwafina, and Villains, which stars Bill Skarsgård, aka Pennywise in IT, Maika Monroe and Jeffrey Donovan. SECOND WAVE

Standout films revealed will feature Seann William Scott in a Blumhouse offering, Bloodline, former WWE wrestler C.M. Punk in The Girl on the Third Floor, a horror sex comedy from director Keola Racela, Porno, and Infección, a film which satirically captures a turbulent Venezuela in zombie canon. The event began in 2015 and has quickly become the top international genre film festival in Florida. It takes place in a historical landmark, the Savor Cinema, a converted 1940s Methodist Church.

The 2019 Popcorn Frights Film Festival launches on Thursday, Aug. 8, and culminates on Friday, Aug. 16. Click HERE for the complete schedule and HERE for the feature films list.
