August 21, 2019 Off By Michael Stagno

A fourth installment in The Matrix franchise is coming from writer and director Lana Wachowski, starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who will both reprise their respective roles as Neo and Trinity.

A synopsis has yet to be announced, but it is presumed it will follow Neo (Reeves), a former computer hacker, that learned of a ‘true nature of reality’ and joined Trinity (Moss) and Co. in the war against the ‘controllers’. The third film, The Matrix Revolutions, left the human city of Zion, safe from the machine invasion, led by Agent Smith, played by Hugo Weaving.

No news yet on other possible returning cast members or a release date, let alone when production will begin, but stay tuned for updates as they roll in.

The previous three films in the series, which were all written and directed by Wachowski, The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, have all combined for over $1.6 billion at the global box office.
