Will Smith and Akiva Goldsman Adapting Sakey Novel, BRILLIANCE

The novel, Brilliance, by Marcus Sakey, will be adapted by Will Smith and Akiva Goldsman for Paramount Pictures.

Smith and Goldsman are not strangers, having also worked together on both I, Robot and I Am Legend. The novel’s setting is in a world in which just one-percent of the world’s population has been born with special powers since 1980. Nick Cooper, a federal agent, is among the one-percent and is tasked with hunting terrorists, but in attempting to stop and catch a new threat, he may have to betray his own kind in the process.

The Sakey novel series is comprised of three books, Brilliance (Saga 1), Brilliance: A Better World (Saga 2) and Brilliance: Written in Fire (Saga 3). It is presumed, if adapted as a film, will follow suit and become a trilogy.
