Upon earning an Academy Award, garnering numerous awards nominations and earning over $500 million at the global box office, Universal Pictures has locked up its partnership with Jordan Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions company.

The deal is for five years and lucrative. Per the contract, the filmmaker will write, direct and produce two new feature films under the Universal umbrella.

“Jordan has established himself as a premier voice and original storyteller with global appeal. He is leading a new generation of filmmakers that have found a way to tap into the cultural zeitgeist with groundbreaking content that resonates with audiences of all backgrounds,” said Universal Filmed Entertainment Group chairman Donna Langley, Universal Filmed Entertainment Group Chairman. “We also share an important goal with Monkeypaw when it comes to increasing representation onscreen in the characters that are portrayed, the stories that are told and the people who tell them.”

Having already churned gems like Get Out and Us, Peele is currently producing both the Candyman reboot, which is due in theaters in 2020, and eight episodes of Lovecraft Country, which drops later in 2019.
