Neil Patrick Harris Joins THE MATRIX 4, Jada Pinkett Smith in Talks to Return

The cast for the recently-announced fourth installment in The Matrix franchise continues to take shape as Neil Patrick Harris has been cast, while Jada Pinkett Smith is being eyed to reprise her role as Niobe as well.

Much is still up in the air as far as possible other returning cast, let alone a synopsis, but it is presumed it will pick up after The Matrix Revolutions, but could also be a standalone film in building toward another trilogy. We’ll have to wait and see what’s coming from the anointed, ‘Project Ice Cream’.

While we’re hoping to see protagonist, Agent Smith, played by Hugo Weaving, return, Patrick Harris and, if she comes back aboard, Pinkett Smith, will join the already-signed, Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jessica Henwick and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, whose role, like that of both NPH and Henwick, still remains a mystery, though he is rumored to be playing a younger version of Morpheus.

NPH, along with his upcoming role in this film, has four projects in the works, including starring roles in both Spinning Gold, a biopic of record producer Neil Bogart, and Anita, another biopic on sexual orientation discrimination in the 1970s.

JPS served as Agent Thompson in Angel Has Fallen this year, while The Matrix 4 would be her only slated upcoming film role following a year off in 2018.
