A live-action adaptation of The Maxx is en route for either the silver screen or streaming, courtesy of Channing Tatum‘s production company, Free Association, in conjunction with Roy Lee‘s Vertigo Entertainment.

The reality-bending superhero known as The Maxx was created by Sam Kieth, the writer and artist of the series, which launched in 1993 at Image Comics, but was later picked up by DC Comics, in which it was collected. The character has also crossed over with the likes of Batman and Wolverine.

The character protects the Jungle Queen of the Outback in a primordial Australia, while he exists in our reality as a homeless man, with the appearance of a homeless man, with a mask, whose mutterings and mask, along with seemingly suffering from a mental illness, makes people shy away.

Two years after the series’ inception, in 1995, an animated series was adapted at MTV as part of its Oddities late-night viewing selection. The limited series spanned seven episodes and followed a confused and hulking homeless superhero who tries to protect his social worker and friend, Julie, from a serial killer known as Mr. Gone, both in reality and a metaphysical-subconscious one as well.

No news yet as to whether the project will serve as a live-action feature film or television series, but stay tuned!
