The filmmaker responsible for Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic on Freddie Mercury, Graham King, in conjunction with John Logan, have earned the rights to tell the Michael Jackson story, per an upcoming film on the life of the mega pop icon.

Graham will produce the film, while Logan will pen the script. The two are currently seeking a studio to represent it as well. The film is expected to carve out a specific time in the performer’s life, but not be a ‘sanitizing rendering’ of his life.

The news comes on the heels of the most-recently released HBO documentary on Jackson, Leaving Neverland, has been slammed with a $100 million lawsuit from the Jackson estate for improper misrepresentation on screen.

Jackson led a complex life and was constantly under a microscope, which culminated with his tragic death at just 50-years-old in 2009. The child star grew up to become a global icon, but whose career was overshadowed by the allegations of the alleged sexual abuse of children.

No news yet on when production begins, but expect this one to garner plenty of attention as it draws closer to filming!
