Filmmaker James Wan is busy and now you can add another big project to his to-do list as he’s been recruited by Universal Pictures to develop yet another monster film for the studio.

The project will be overseen by Wan, while the script will be written by longtime Supernatural producer, Robbie Thompson.

The story is presumed to take place in the Universal Monsters timeline and will center on a group of teens, which comes across a neighbor in discovering he is building a monster in his basement.

The announcement follows the success of the breakout, The Invisible Man, but it remains unknown whether the two will tie together. The studio attempted to launch its monster universe in 2014 with Dracula Untold, as well as the reboot of The Mummy in 2017, however both were considered flops by critics, which prompted Universal to put a halt in the plans.

Wan has a plethora of upcoming horror and science fiction projects, including, but not limited to: Aquaman 2, The Crooked Man, The Nun 2, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and the Mortal Kombat and Dylan Dog reboots as well, with the latter serving as a television series.
