A new zombie pandemic film from Lionsgate, 16 States, has landed its director in up-and-coming filmmaker, Fede Alvarez.

The plot has yet to be released, but the title of the film suggests a possible road trip across 16-different states, during a zombie outbreak. It’s also rumored that it may center on a mother as the central figure, who is seeking to reunite with her family.

Both John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, the scribe tandem known for producing This is Us and co-writing Focus, will spearhead the script.

Alvarez made his feature debut when he directed the Evil Dead reboot in 2013. His second, Don’t Breathe, came in 2016, while he also helmed The Girl in the Spider’s Web in 2018. He is currently also attached to another reboot, Labyrinth, which was recently announced.
