Filmmaker Lorenzo di Bonaventura and scribe Mattson Tomlin have both been selected by Paramount Pictures to helm the upcoming sci-fi thriller, 2084, which has been tabbed as a ‘love letter’ to the George Orwell novel, 1984.

The upcoming film, which has kept much of its plot under wraps, will seemingly follow slightly on happenings in Orwell’s novel, which centers on Big Brother, a totalitarian, surveyed and propaganda-filled sci-fi thriller about what the world has become and how it is currently a ‘negative utopia’.

For di Bonaventura, who is best-known for his production duties on the Transformers and G.I. Joe films, has a laundry list of upcoming projects. He will take on Meg 2: The Trench, another addition to the Die Hard franchise in McClane, and a Dead Rising television series, which will be based on the video game franchise.

Tomlin penned the script to the upcoming The Batman film, while he has also been tapped to scribe a comic book adaptation, Fear Agent, as well as a live-action adaptation of the popular video game IP, Mega Man.
