Filmmaker Scott Derrickson has been tabbed by TriStar Pictures to helm the forthcoming The Labyrinth sequel.

The film will follow in the footsteps of the 1986 cult classic, The Labyrinth, from Jim Henson, which starred both Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie. It centered on Sarah (Connelly), a 16-year-old, tasked with navigating a labyrinth to find her baby brother, Toby, who she ‘wished away’, has been captured by Jareth the Goblin King (Bowie).

Both Lisa and Brian Henson will be serving as producers, while Maggie Levin has been assigned to pen the script.

It will be interesting to see what is done about Bowie’s role, considering the musician and actor passed away in 2016, but also whether Connelly will reprise her role as well. Might the film center on a now-older Toby? Stay tuned to Galaxtic Pop for updates!
