The First Six A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET Films Coming to Shudder

July 28, 2019 Off By Michael Stagno

The all-horror streaming service, Shudder, is preparing to spoil fans this August with the release of the first six installments in the A Nightmare on Elm Street series.

Robert Englund is and always will be the only Freddy Krueger in our book. That said, there are still rumblings of a reboot (again), but the fans of this series are picky and it’s going to take all hands on deck to make it worthy of anything close to a Wes Craven film. Though, we could be in for something great, considering the successful Halloween reboot that came out last year, which also just garnered two more sequels. We’ll see. Below is a list of the films in the series coming on August 1.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

The original. The masterpiece. The one that started it all, as the spirit of a slain janitor, bent on revenge, invades the dreams of teenagers whose parents were behind his untimely death.

A Nightmare on Elm Street: Freddy’s Revenge (1985)

A teenage boy, Jesse, whose family moves into the infamous Thompson house, is haunted in his dreams by deceased child murderer, Krueger, who seeks to continue his reign of terror on teenagers.

A Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors (1987)

This is one of our favorites in the series, tabbing Freddy against the Dream Warriors, teenage patients in a psychiatric hospital, that are collectively working on conquering their fears and fighting back, in their dreams.

A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Master (1988)

He’s back! Krueger returns to once again terrorize the dreams of the remaining Dream Warriors.

A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child (1989)

New series scream queen, Alice, now pregnant, must fight to protect her unborn child as Freddy begins to invade the child’s dreams, in hopes of being reborn in the real world.

Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)

This might be one of the first 3D movies that many of us had ever seen. There are so many cool effects in this one, where Krueger is again back to wreak havoc, this time on the last remaining Springwood teenager, as well as his child (we don’t want to spoil who it is if you haven’t seen it).

The marathon starts on August 1. Stream them this month and ‘never sleep again’, but act fast, because they all leave the platform on Aug. 31.
