Christian Serratos Tabbed for Iconic Role in Netflix’s SELENA: THE SERIES

The upcoming Netflix Original, Selena: The Series, that will highlight the life of Selena Quintanilla, has found its star in The Walking Dead veteran, Christian Serratos.

Serratos will play the role of Selena, the iconic singer, actress and fashionista. The series will serve as a coming-of-age story of the Latino crossover artist who, in 1995, at just 23-years-old, was shot and killed by Yolanda Saldívar, her business associate, who is currently serving a life sentence.

Selena’s story was also told two years following her death, in 1997, in Selena, which starred Jennifer Lopez.

We could be in for a bit of foreshadowing of the death of Rosita Alvarez on TWD with the casting announcement, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the upcoming 10th season.

Selena: The Series is expected to play out over the course of two seasons and is presumed to begin production in Mexico soon, but there is no news yet on a supporting cast or a release date.
