Fresh off the completion of Power-Con, Kevin Smith, in conjunction with Mattel and Netflix, will be taking us back to Eternia with the newly-announced, Masters of the Universe: Revelation series.

That’s right, Smith, via the official He-Man and She-Ra Toy and Comic Book Experience Convention, dropped the hammer in revealing he’d be producing an all-new animated MOTU series, this time of the anime variety.

The series will build on unresolved storylines from the previous animated series of the 1980s, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and will, thankfully, have nothing to do with 1987’s live-action film, Masters of the Universe.

“I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe,” Smith said in a statement. “In Revelation, we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal-character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!”

There’s also another live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe coming, which is slated for release in 2021, starring Noah Centineo, as Prince Adam, aka He-Man.

No news yet on when the new anime series will debut, but stay tuned!
