The Josh Gad, Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis The Muppets: Live Another Day series will not be ordered by Disney+, announced today.

The scripted comedy series, which was announced this year at D23 Expo, was supposed to revive The Muppets in picking things up post-1984’s The Muppets Take Manhattan, where Kermit and Co. reunite to locate their missing friend, Rowlf.

“After a little over a year-and-a-half of working on a project called, Muppets: Live Another Day, @adamhorowitzla #eddykitsis and I have decided, with a heavy heart, to walk away,” Gad stated in an Instagram post.

The upcoming streaming service does have a revival of The Muppet Show coming in 2020, which is an unscripted variety show featuring celebrity guests. The original series ran from 1976-81.
