Lucasfilm Selects Deborah Chow to Direct OBI-WAN KENOBI Series

September 27, 2019 Off By Michael Stagno

Director Deborah Chow, fresh off directing two episodes of the upcoming The Mandalorian series, has been tapped to direct Ewan McGregor in the still-untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+.

McGregor will once again reprise his role as the Jedi Master in a series in which much of the plot has yet to be announced, will pick up eight years after the events in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, which resulted in his former Padawan, Anakin Skywalker, becoming Darth Vader.

“We really wanted to select a director who is able to explore both the quiet determination and rich mystique of Obi-Wan in a way that folds seamlessly into the Star Wars saga,” said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. “Based on her phenomenal work developing our characters in The Mandalorian, I’m absolutely confident Deborah is the right director to tell this story.”

Hossein Amini will serve as writer for the series, while Kennedy, Tracey Seaward and John Swartz will all executive produce.

No news yet on when production begins, but stay tuned to Galaxtic Pop!

Disney+ launches on Nov. 12, 2019, while Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters, nationwide, on Dec. 20.
