The upcoming WarnerMedia streaming service, HBO Max, will launch in 2020 with the exclusive rights to The Big Bang Theory, proving that the ‘streaming wars’ are real and definitely here to stay.

The largely-successful run of The Big Bang Theory, a series that centered on the dynamic between Penny, (Kaley Cuoco), who moves into an apartment across the hall from two brilliant, but socially-awkward physicists, Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki), along with their two equally-as-nerdy friends, Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar), shows them how little they know about life (and girls) outside of their laboratories and local comic book shops.

Later in the series, both Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch) and Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) were introduced, becoming the love interests of both Howard and Sheldon, respectively.

“I am forever grateful to have been part of something as extraordinary as The Big Bang Theory,” said Chuck Lorre, the series co-creator. “All of us, recognize that 12 seasons of laughter is a gift to be cherished. And now we are extremely excited that TBBT will be joining the HBO Max lineup and be available to both existing and future fans of the show. Laughter has legs!”

The show, which premiered in September of 2007, served as a pop culture phenomenon, having churned out numerous action figures, clothing and accessories. It was not only the longest running multi-camera comedy series of all-time, but also racked up 55 Emmy nominations, winning 10, and seven Golden Globe nominations as well.

All 12 seasons and 279 episodes will be available in conjunction with the launch of HBO Max, in spring of 2020.
