The Jim Henson Co. Announces Talk Show, EARTH TO NED, at Disney+
October 25, 2019An alien-hosted puppet comedy talk show is coming to Disney+, per an announcement from The Jim Henson Company, Earth to Ned.
The straight-to-series order will be a half-hour show, hosted by Ned, a blue-skinned alien and his lieutenant Cornelius. The two were sent to Earth to scout for an eventual invasion, but instead, became obsessed with pop culture. Now, the two have their very own talk show, which is set up on the bridge of their spaceship, which is burrowed deep underground. The two will talk with celebrities from all over the universe, with hopes of becoming the ultimate pop culture talk show in the galaxy.
“Disney has a long history of giving audiences a glimpse at faraway lands and bringing new talent into the spotlight. We believe Ned is next in line,” said Dan Silver, Disney+ VP, Unscripted Originals. “We’re lucky to have the talents of The Jim Henson Co. and the folks at Marwar Junction Productions helping Ned, Cornelius, BETI and the Clods to execute and fully realize their vision. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank Ned for promising to entertain us, rather than destroy us all.”
The characters that Silver is referring to in Ned (host), Cornelius (co-host), their artificial intelligence, BETI and, their army of Clods (cloned living objects of destruction), will all be brought to life by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
The series, Earth to Ned, will stream exclusively on Disney+, which launches on Nov. 12, 2019.
