The production company Xilam Animation has announced it will produce Netflix‘s first-ever French animated preschool series, Oggy Oggy.

The series is based on the global breakout franchise, Oggy and the Cockroaches, which has extended its reach to nearly 800 million households, worldwide, over the past 20 years.

Oggy and the Cockroaches, a series that follows Oggy, who would be the happiest of cats, if three cockroaches hadn’t decided to settle inside his comfortable home, is still going strong, having turned in 515 episodes since 1998. Its popularity also garnered it a full animated feature film in 2013, Oggy and the Cockroaches: The Movie.

“We are delighted with this new collaboration with Netflix, a testimony of their commitment to offering children around the world access to high-quality programs,” said Xilam CEO Marc du Pontavice. “With this new development of our successful series, Oggy and the Cockroaches, Xilam intends to establish the Oggy universe as one of the most important franchises for the preschool target audience. By expanding its footprint, the brand is expanding its global audience.”
