The upcoming Home Alone reboot at Disney+ has landed its new star in Archie Yates, while both Rob Delaney and Ellie Kemper were also cast.

The franchise launched with Home Alone in 1990, which grossed over $476 million, worldwide, including nearly $286 million, domestically.

The upcoming reboot will presumably follow in its footsteps in telling the story of a young troublemaker who is left alone by his family during Christmas vacation and must protect his house from criminals. The film propelled Macaulay Culkin to stardom as Kevin McCallister, and also starred both Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, as the burglars, ‘The Wet Bandits’. All three returned in 1992 to star in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, while Pesci and Stern then operated as, ‘The Sticky Bandits’.

In 1997, Home Alone 3 steered away from Culkin in starring Alex D. Linz as Alex Pruitt, a young boy pinned against an international organization of thieves.

In 2002, Mike Weinberg starred in Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House, which returned the McCallister family as young Kevin attempts to thwart his neighbor’s plans to kidnap a prince.

Lastly, in 2012, Christian Martyn starred as Finn Baxter, who is not only trying to catch a house ghost, but must also stop three thieves as well, in Home Alone: The Holiday Heist.

Kemper, known for her respective runs on both The Office and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, just wrapped on The Stand-In and is currently working on a one-off Kimmy Schmidt special as well.

The star of the series, Catastrophe, Delaney, appeared in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw this year, while he currently has two projects slated for 2020 in Tom and Jerry and The Good House. He also has a roll in Bombshell, which drops in December.

Yates currently has one film on his resume and, thanks to that breakout performance in Jojo Rabbit, will surely be lining up for many more in the future.

While Yates is expected to serve as the star of the reboot film, it is still unclear what roles both Kemper and Delaney will play. Production is currently slated to begin in early- to mid-2020.
