One of the initial series to launch along with Scout Comics, Solar Flare, is set to be adapted for television by Digital Riot Media.

The publisher’s longest-running series, which was created by Scout President James Haick III, with art provided by Branko Jovanovic, tells the story of a solar flare that wipes out all electricity, rendering technology useless. Main character, Jake Clifford, and his friends now must make a dangerous trek, from Florida to Tennessee, in a dark world, to reunite him with his daughter, Mazzy. The group is sidetracked, however, as the collective begins to realize that they are important in helping restart the world, with vital information in hand, all while having to navigate around the militant group, the New Americans. The books release in a set of series, similar to TV formats, a trend made popular by the publisher in promoting binge reading.

“Knowing just how driven and passionate the team at Digital Riot Media is about putting out exciting and entertaining stories that the fans love, it makes me incredibly excited to have them leading the charge in developing Solar Flare for television,” said Haick.

Digital Riot Media formed in 2015 and specializes in both traditional and digital platforms in many genres, including horror, suspense and thrillers. The company was founded by John Baldecchi (Happy Death Day, The Mexican) and Doug Berry (Win, Lose or Draw).

No news yet on when production begins or as to what platform the pilot will debut on, but stay tuned!
