A reboot of Clueless, with a more dramatic spin, is being developed by CBS Television Studios and may see stars from the 1995 film reprise their roles.

Clueless, followed rich high school students, Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and Dionne (Stacey Dash), who try to boost the popularity of their new pupil, Tai (Brittany MurphyR.I.P.), but reckons without affairs of the heart getting in the way. The film also starred: Paul Rudd, Donald Faison, Breckin Meyer and Jeremy Sisto. The show would seemingly return at least Silverstone, as Murphy is deceased, Dash is a question mark, following her recent arrest in Florida, and Rudd, whose Josh character ends up with Cher to end the film, might be too high up the Hollywood A-List at this point.

This wouldn’t be the first television adaptation of the film as Clueless ran on ABC for three seasons, from 1996-99, and starred Rachel Blanchard, alongside both Dash and Faison as well.

The new series would center on Cher’s best friend, Dionne. When Cher disappears, Dionne must take on the pressures of being the new most-popular girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her friend. The series is being described as ‘Mean Girls meets Riverdale meets a Lizzo music video’.

The project is currently without a platform as it is being shopped, but it is hopeful for a 2020 debut. Stay tuned to Galaxtic Pop for updates!
