Johnny Galecki Co-Launching an eSports Comedy Series, THE SQUAD, at NBC
October 22, 2019Former The Big Bang Theory writer Anthony del Broccolo and, in a reunion with TBBT star Johnny Galecki, have found a network in NBC to launch their upcoming eSports comedy series, The Squad.
The upcoming multicamera comedy series that will center on the world of gaming and eSports will see the script-writing duties fall to del Broccolo, while he will also executive produce the project, alongside Galecki.
The series will revolve around a new group of friends (and sometimes enemies), who find companionship and common ground in their mutual love of eSports. It will explore what it means to finally find your ‘squad’ after years of feeling like an outsider.
The eSports industry will generate over $1 billion this year, for the first time ever, while it is, annually, a multi-million dollar cash cow. Many of the top gamers and streamers can make north of $15,000-per-hour! A 16-year-old took home a $1.8 million prize this year for winning the Fortnite World Cup. Parents, encourage your kids to mash those buttons!
