Exclusive Linear Partnership Struck Between DC Universe and The CW for STARGIRL

November 30, 2019 Off By Michael Stagno

The highly-anticipated DC Universe series, Stargirl, now has an exclusive linear window, per a partnership struck with The CW, in which each episode will broadcast the day after its debut on the streaming service.

The series will follow high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore, aka Stargirl (Brec Bassinger), as she inspires an unlikely group to form the Justice Society of America (JSA), a valiant and heroic teenage superhero squad.

The show also stars regulars, Amy Smart, Trae Romano, Yvette Monreal, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson, Jake Austin Walker, Christopher James Baker and Hunter Sansone, with one-episode appearances by both Luke Wilson and Joel McHale, who will portray Starman, as well.

The series is based on the DC Comics character, who was created by Geoff Johns, and modeled after his sister, who was tragically killed in a plane explosion in 1996. The character has no inherent powers, but by wielding a cosmic staff, she garnered the abilities to fly, shoot energy blasts and manipulate said energy as well. She is also skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

The 13-episode pilot season of Stargirl is slated to debut in the second quarter of 2020 on DC Universe, while each episode will then air weekly on The CW, including its digital platforms as well. Stay tuned for an exact release date!
