Oni Press Offers First Look at Sci-Fi Series, R(ENDER);

A unique science fiction comic which focuses on a photographer that captures the final images through the eyes of the deceased, r(ender);, is set to launch this fall at Oni Press/Lion Forge.

In the future, the dead get to tell their own stories, thanks to a photographer with the capability to capture and reproduce the final image from the eyes of the near-dead, a talent which is noticed by not just the police, but other organizations as well.

The series comes from the creative team of Leah Williams and Lenka Simeckova, which was announced last year as a Lion Forge title, but fell to Oni Press, as part of a company realignment partnership.

“I joke about r(ender); being X-Files, but lesbians and magic or seapunk tech noir, but really it’s a cyberpunk neo-noir story that takes place on the fraying edge between magic and technology,” Williams said. “The one story I’ve been desperately hungry to tell ever since I was a teenager.”

r(ender); #1 will hit bookshelves and land on digital on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
