NYCC 2019: Marvel Unveils New STAR WARS and DARTH VADER Series
October 3, 2019The story of a ‘galaxy far, far away’ is getting a reboot to kick off the new year, as announced at New York Comic Con, with new Star Wars and Darth Vader series coming, via all-new creative teams.
An all-new Star Wars series, from creators Charles Soule and Jesus Saiz, will chronicle untold events that occurred between Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.
It is a dark time for the Rebellion heroes. The Rebel fleet is scattered across the universe, following the disastrous defeat at the Battle of Hoth. Han Solo has been captured by Boba Fett and frozen in carbonite and, after being lured to a trap on Cloud City and caught up in a brutal lightsaber duel against Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker has learned a horrible truth in his Jedi lineage. He now will link up with Leia, Chewie, Lando, C-3P0 and R2-D2 to fight their way back to the Rebel Alliance, avoiding Imperial traps along the way.
Come February, from writer Greg Pak and artist Raffaele Ienco, the ‘Dark Lord’ is bound for a road of vengeance and discovery. The series, Darth Vader, will spotlight father Skywalker, who is still grappling to the notion of losing his son after revealing his secret. He will embark on a bloody and rage-filled mission against everyone that he feels was corrupting his son.
Star Wars #1 (re)launches an all-new series in January of 2020, while Darth Vader #1 is slated for a February release.
