It’s Triple the Fear and Mayhem as BATMAN: THREE JOKERS is Announced at DC

March 11, 2020 Off By Michael Stagno

The legendary creative DC Comics team of writer Geoff Johns and artist Jason Fabok are coming together to dive deep into the history (and psyche) of the Joker. In fact, three of them, per Batman: Three Jokers.

Much will remain in secret till the first issue drops, but it is presumed it will take place 30 years after The Killing Joke. It will re-examine the myth of who and what the Joker is and what is at the heart of the ongoing battle between him and Batman. Fans will find out why there are indeed three of them and what it means for the battle between the Caped Crusader and the Clown Prince of Crime and why it has stretched over decades. Characters, both old and new, will come together in attempting to solve a truly maddening puzzle.

“The world doesn’t need just another BatmanJoker story,” Johns said. “One of the reasons I’ve never done one before is because there are so many amazing ones, so I was only gonna do one if it was different and surprising and looked at the Joker and the meaning of the Joker and his effect on Batman and his family in a new way. We’re not introducing a multiverse of Jokers, we’re not out to change these characters forever, but we are turning over some rocks about these characters and their relationships.”

The three-issue miniseries will carry the DC Black Label imprint and each issue will include a 48-page spread.

Batman: Three Jokers #1 (of 3) arrives on shelves on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.
