DC Comics Announces Two Halloween-Themed DCU Anthologies in the Fall

Publisher DC Comics promises you will need to ‘read with the lights on’ when two of its special edition, Halloween-centric anthology one-shots drop this fall in, Legend of the Swamp Thing Halloween Spectacular #1 and DC: The Doomed and the Damned #1.

The Legend of the Swamp Thing Halloween Spectacular #1 will feature a series of creepy tales surrounding the titular character. For the project, the publisher has enlisted the likes of, Tom King, Vita Ayala and James Tynion IV, along with artists, Domo Stanton, Emma Rios and Mike Perkins, among many others. The 48-page collection will feature six all-new stories for the ‘Guardian of the Green’ as he is stalked by various ghosts and ghouls.

The 80-page collection featured in DC: The Doomed and the Damned #1 will center on the macabre creatures of the DC Universe and the ‘dark and stormy night’ of which they all decide to come out and play. Stories include, but not limited to, Batman speaking the name of an urban legend, three times into a mirror, which reveals itself, the misadventures of Madame Xanadu and Man-Bat, an intergalactic demon comes face-to-face with the unlikely team of Green Lantern and Etrigan, and many more!

The massive anthology book will be penned by Carmen Maria Machado, Saladin Ahmed, Alyssa Wong, among many more, and feature the art of Riley Rossmo, Tom Mandrake, Leonardo Manco and others.

Legend of the Swamp Thing Halloween Spectacular #1 is currently slated for a Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, release and will retail for $5.99, while DC: The Doomed and the Damned #1 will go on sale the following week, for $9.99, on Oct. 13.
